In the creation of this image, the background
photograph was good but needed to be
augmented. The solution was by taking
photographs, during the base photography
stage, of other possible elements, i.e.,
adjacent
Eucalyptus trees, similar landscape
scenes, sky and compositing them into the
final
image. It is important to photograph all elements in
as similar lighting conditions to readily match
color space.
The individual elements, such as trees, were
separated from their backgrounds and then
composited onto the final scene. Similar landscape
scenes not in the actual vantage
point but useful were photographed, copied
from their base photograph and added to
extend
the size and format of the original photograph.
The extensive use of multiple photographs,
post production painting and compositing
makes this image a matte painting.
